The U.S. Center for SafeSport™ recently revised their kids and youth courses on their learning platform. The refreshed courses feature interactive activities and age-appropriate safety lessons for minors, including identifying trusted adults, positive sportsmanship, bullying, hazing, misconduct and abuse. We encourage all minor athletes and their parents to take the respective training course available on the SafeSport™ portal. These elective courses are separate from the annual required SafeSport™ compliance course.
The available courses are:
- SafeSport for Kids (ages 5-12): 15 minutes
- SafeSport for Youth Athletes (ages 13-17): 20 minutes
- Parents Guide to Misconduct in Sport, U.S. Figure Skating: 30 minutes
For more information from the U.S. Center for SafeSport™, check out their free Recognize, Prevent and Respond resources. This is also a great time of year to check out the refreshed SkateSafe® website with resources available for you, your family and your community. Keep coming back as we continue to add and revise content throughout the year.
As always, you can reach out to us with questions at skatesafe@usfigureskating.org or call 719-635-5200, option 6.
