Graduating Seniors

As Programs Manager at U.S. Figure Skating, I manage the Graduating Senior Award program, which recognizes student-athletes who have worked hard to pursue figure skating while maintaining their academics. While figure skating is not a traditional school sport, it requires the same dedication, perseverance and time management as any varsity sport. It is the goal of U.S. Figure Skating to help ensure these student-athletes are recognized for those skills.

There are four categories of recognition based on competition and test achievements in all disciplines of figure skating. Student-athletes are rewarded based on their highest level of achievement at either the Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze level. There is no cost for this program and the student-athletes apply online by March 1 of their senior year. Following the application review process, U.S. Figure Skating sends the student-athlete their awards certificate, congratulatory letter and lapel pin. This year, awards are being presented to nearly 800 student-athletes.

Below you will find a list of skaters from your club who have received awards for this season. I hope you will consider including recognition of these athletes as part of a year-end banquet or other celebration; additionally, gifting each of your graduating seniors a collegiate membership is a great way to encourage them to stay involved in the sport after their graduation. Collegiate memberships are $70 and last for four years; skaters are eligible to receive the membership as long as they are enrolled in college. If you have any questions regarding gifting your skaters a collegiate membership, please get in touch with Member Services at 719-635-5200. The 2019 Graduating Seniors Program information will available in the fall of 2018 on our website.

All the best,

Karissa Woienski Manager, Figure Skating Programs U.S. Figure Skating

The pair skated with their highest score of the season. Their short program to the tune of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Then finished it up with a flawless Mary Poppins medley, scoring them into 3rd place at Nationals. Congratulations Izzy & Ryan, we are proud of you both!
